Don’t be deceived by the title of this triathlon. It may be called a half ironman but there is nothing easy about it.

A half ironman, also called Ironman 70.3, is one of a series of long-distance triathlon events put together by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC). The “70.3” refers to the total distance (in miles) the half marathon covers. Just like any other triathlon, the half ironman consists of a swimming stage (1.2 miles), a cycling stage (56 miles), and a running stage (21.1 miles). The distances covered in the swim, bike, and run stages of the triathlon is half of the Ironman Triathlon, hence the term “Half Ironman”.

I’m sure from the half ironman distances above, it is evident that the half ironman triathlon is no child’s play. In order to complete a half ironman event, you have to prepare yourself very well for it. In case you didn’t know, the average time to finish a half ironman triathlon is 6 hours. That’s 6 grueling hours of consistent muscle use.
